Longline Fish

In Norway, longline fishing is used by small fishing boats that are only out at sea for a few hours, thus returning with their catches on the same day. As a result, the fish can be processed much more quickly than is possible with trawlers. What is more, the freshly caught fish is not processed industrially but using the traditional local craft.

This type of longline fishing is considered to have a reduced environmental impact as well as being sustainable as it very largely avoids the problem of discards.
